Primary Team

Our dedicated primary teacher team is committed to nurturing young minds, creating a supportive learning environment, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. 

Grade 1

Ms. Hanna Chang

Ms. Chang is passionate about creating a cheerful and supportive classroom where students feel safe, valued, and eager to learn. She incorporates hands-on activities and engaging lessons to spark curiosity and build confidence. Believing in the unique strengths of each child, she encourages every student to grow and shine. Ms. Chang values strong relationships with families to support learning inside and outside the classroom. She earned her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in California and is committed to inspiring a lifelong love of learning in her students.

Grade 3

Ms. Olivia Kim

Ms. Olivia is the Grade 3 Homeroom Teacher and brings seven years of teaching experience to her role. This is her first year at GIS. Having attended an international school herself, she looks forward to getting to know every student in her classroom.She is highly skilled in supporting students both academically and personally. In the classroom, she is dedicated to providing warm encouragement and guidance, fostering an environment where students feel motivated and confident. Her goal is for every student to learn happily and enjoy their studies while developing a lifelong love of learning.

Grade 2A

Ms. Amy Seo

Ms. Seo completed her postgraduate studies in Education and is a certified teacher in the UK. She is qualified to teach children aged 5 to 12, as well as Art at the middle and high school levels. Having grown up and taught children in Thailand, the UK, and Korea, she brings a rich global perspective to her work. Ms. Seo values diversity, encourages curiosity, and creates a student-centered classroom where every child feels supported, inspired, and confident to reach their full potential.

Grade 4

Ms. Claire Yoon

Ms. Yoon has over 10 years of teaching experience with elementary school students. Before becoming a teacher, she had the opportunity to work as a student T.A. for a university professor while she was a senior undergraduate student. Teaching has always been her passion, and she is excited to share her love of learning with her students.  

Grade 2B

Ms. Haylee Ha

Ms.Ha brings years of teaching experience from both South Africa and Korea. She values each child as uniquely created, with individual strengths and potential to grow. Her classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, learning is purposeful, and kindness is practiced daily. With a nurturing and intentional approach, Ms. Ha seeks to guide students not only in their studies, but also in building character, confidence, and a heart for others—preparing them to make a positive difference in the world.

Grade 5

Ms. Jean Jeon

Ms. Jeon is from Sydney, Australia. She has taught primary students for the last 8 years. Currently, she is undergoing her online M.ed. in Educational Technology.  In her free time she loves to take her toy poodle, Mercy, to the pet park or the beach.

Secondary Team

Our secondary teacher team consists of passionate educators who specialize in guiding students through their academic journey, preparing them for success in higher education and beyond.

HS ELA

Mr. David Reardon

Mr. Reardon is a British national who graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2010 with a degree in Performing Arts. After some time exploring his options, he moved to South Korea, where he's been teaching for the past 13 years. His passion for education began at a youth centre in the UK, and he's since developed strong communication and interpersonal skills by teaching students of all ages.

MS ELA & Social Studies

Ms. Yeoju Na

Ms. Yeoju Na was born in Korea and raised in South Africa. She holds a degree in English Education and Education of Computer Application Technology. She began her teaching career as a student teacher and teaching assistant in South Africa for two years. Since 2020, Ms. Na has taught at various international schools in Korea, bringing a unique global perspective and a passion for fostering cross-cultural understanding in the classroom.

HS Math

Ms. Claire Lee

Ms. Claire is a dedicated teacher at GIS. Ms. Claire teaches a diverse range of math courses, including Algebra 2, Geometry, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and AP Precalculus. Her goal is to make math both accessible and enjoyable for all students.

MS Math & Science

Ms. Mikyung Hwang

Ms. Hwang brings approximately six years of experience in international education. Passionate about inquiry-based learning and procedural teaching, this is her second year as a Mathematics and Science teacher. She has achieved teacher qualifications in computer science from the U.K. and FLE certification at an introductory level (tier 2). Ms. Hwang's educational philosophy emphasizes lifelong learning, inclusivity, diversity, and experiential learning. She believes in the importance of life skills for personal progress. Outside of teaching, she enjoys outdoor activities, including nature walks, hiking, and tennis. Ms. Hwang looks forward to discovering and supporting each child's potential as they move forward.

HS Science

Ms. Sally Lee 

Ms. Sally Lee earned her degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Warwick and is pursuing a master’s in Science Education at Seoul National University. With teaching experience across diverse international settings, she helps students connect science to real life while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

HS Social Studies

Mr. Michael Hur

Mr. Michael Hur has joined GIS as a high school Social Studies teacher. He considers it a great honor to work with such wonderful and valued students. His teaching career began as an assistant teacher and bus monitor, and since then, he has served in several international schools as both a middle and high school Social Studies teacher as well as an administrative assistant officer.

At GIS, Mr. Hur hopes not only to deliver Social Studies content knowledge but also to guide students in becoming relevant, collaborative, and responsible members of society. He is truly honored to contribute to the GIS community as both an educator and mentor.

Specialty Team

Our specialty teacher team is a group of skilled professionals dedicated to enriching the educational experience with unique subjects like art, music, physical education, Spanish, and ESL.

Art

Ms. Bea Park

Ms.Park is an innovative art educator with eight years of teaching experience, a proud graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, who believes in the transformative power of art as a medium for self-expression and dialogue. She is dedicated to creating a supportive classroom environment where students can not only develop their artistic abilities but also learn to communicate their ideas and emotions effectively.

Spanish / ESL

Ms. Jeniffer Carrion

Ms. Carrion holds a master’s degree and has over six years of teaching experience in both public and private schools. Ms. Carrion is very passionate about teaching and love creating fun, active, and engaging classes.

Music

Ms. Sharon Shin

Ms. Shin graduated from Juilliard School and Columbia University with MA and MMED degrees.
As a flutist, she performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and was invited to international conducting competitions in the UK, France, Bulgaria, and Romania. Ms. Shin has taught Orchestra, Choir, Concert Band, AP, IBDP, IGCSE, MYP, and IPC music for over 13 years in international and British schools.

ESL

Mr. Juan Dominguez

Mr. Dominguez has been teaching in South Korea for 10 years. He is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and has a teaching license from the University of West Florida. He specializes in Elementary Education with endorsements in Reading and ESOL. He loves adventures to new places in Korea as well as other countries. He loves interacting with children to make education enjoyable for them.

PE

Ms. Sol Kim

With a degree in Physical Education from Korea University and an international school background, Ms. Sol is all about promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. In her free time, Ms. Sol loves playing volleyball and ice hockey. Her goal as a PE teacher is to inspire students to find their favorite ways to stay active, helping them build healthy habits that can bring positive outcomes physically and mentally for life.
